Second Phase Of Condor Yacu Drilling To Commence

Cardero Resource Corp. is pleased to announce that a diamond drill and crew are being mobilized in Argentina to conduct the second phase of drilling on its Condoryacu gold project in northwest Argentina. This phase is designed to test the down dip and along strike potential of the gold zone identified in the first drill phase completed and reported in August of 2001 (news release dated August 17, 2001). The current program will commence within 7 days and consist of 10 holes drilled at 5 locations for a minimum of 1,000 metres.

Results from the 5 hole drill program completed in August 2001 included the following intersections:-

A true width of 10.76 metres and a weighted average grade of 16.82 g/t Au and 112.8 g/t Ag (gold equivalent of 18.7 g/t) was calculated for the zone using the combined results of holes CY01-01, CY01-1A and CY01-2 that are aligned on the same cross section. CY01-3 was also drilled on the same section and undercut CY01-2 intersecting the mineralized zone 105 metres below surface. CY01-4 was collared approximately 40 m to the south and appears to have drilled down a fault.
